    Footage from Stallone's "The Expendables"

With the internet and the world (at least I think) clamoring for more news of Stallone’s The Expendables, this video shows a behind the scenes look at Stallone on set.  The video isn’t much but its always cool to see how things are behind the camera and see how it progressed to what we see on the big screen. Here is the latest video of the man himself and the catchphrase that’s already beginning to make the rounds on the net…Enjoy!! [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IjaRV9DCYc] Annnd for those of you who can’t get enough of Stallone (like all of us here) here’s a few more videos of Sly prepping for the film in…

Actors I'm Excited To See More From…

If there’s one thing I don’t appreciate in Hollywood, it is the over-use of an actor.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love seeing my favorite actor(s) in as many movies as possible and I enjoy seeing them on screen, testing their range and trying new things but I hate it when they are suddenly everywhere at once.   They, very quickly, become so popular that they’re in pretty much everything, then they disappear for a while and come back in bit parts in so many movies spread throughout out the year…take Terrence Howard for instance.  I’d like to see him on more films as the lead role, not a supporting…

    Sweet Trailer…’Hurt Locker’

Kind of a ho-hum day at the end of a long week.  I saw this trailer for The Hurt Locker and thought I’d pass it on although I haven’t heard much about its development.  Unfortunately, this trailer doesn’t highlight some of the heavy acting talent on board…namely Guy Pearce and Ralph Fiennes.  This movie reminds me of The Kingdom and Stop-Loss (which for an MTV Movie, was actually really good). I don’t have any other opinions except it looks cool and I’d like to see it… [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVohGnZ5E0E] But like I always say, the Trailer Industry is a crafty little demon.  Let’s wait and see on this one.  Anyone out there…

    The Ghostbusters School of Ghostbusting?

In some interesting plot news regarding the latest Ghostbusting escapade, Dan Aykroyd gives some insight into the series’ 3rd installment.  It looks like the passing the torch rumors have evolved into a sort of ‘Ghostbusters Academy’. You can read more about what Aykroyd has to say from the post on MTV. To me this could be like mixing Hogwart’s Academy with Police Academy and this may end up working.  It would be very reminiscent of the first proton pack scenes in the original Ghostbusters.  I’ll admit, after seeing the British Office (which I love), I never got on board with the American version.  My friends have tried to get me…

Venom: The Spin-Off…or ‘Year One’ or…

I believe the list could go on and on about possible titles for the separate Venom story that has been “green-lit” for production.  News of this came up last week and I had to put some thought to what I wanted to say about the Venom stand-alone.  Many people (fans mainly) are rejoicing, others are groaning, and the rest as asking…”didn’t he die?’  Well to the film viewers who aren’t comic book readers, Venom has come back more times than Jason Voorhees but as different incarnations.  I’ll admit that I don’t know much about him aside from the symbiot alien facts. To me Spider Man 3 was just “too many…

    “No Go”re for Pirates 4…

Well friends it looks like a good director knows when to hold em and when to fold em… Gore Verbinski is done dealing with “above” the water adventures and is now going “under”.  Since he took the job of helming the Bioshock video game adaptation, the possibility of directing another Pirates film is either schedule prohibiting or he had decided he’s done with the series.  I guess he did what Sam Raimi should have done, and what Christopher Nolan is thinking of doing. To his credit he did something only dreamed of  before: creating a living, breathing, wildly popular (and profitable) franchise from a simple idea/novelty.  He looks to have…

Shadow of the Colossus…Wanders To A Theater Near You?

Looks like Columbia Pictures will be bringing the characters and mystical lands in the epic game Shadow of the Colossus (or the Japanese title ‘Wander and the Colossus’) to the big screen.  This makes me happy and sad at the same time.  The idea of it becoming a film gives hope that this will be the greatest and most successful video game translation ever.  The reality of this (since they are having Justin Marks write the script) makes me weep for another failed attempt, and this one is closer to my heart than another game. Now a little back story from my perspective.  Here at GCT we all love movies…

    Sweet (Teaser) Trailer…’Hunter Prey’

Well yesterday I mentioned it and today it has been revealed: The “teaser” for Sandy Collora’s Hunter Prey. I09.com has the exclusive info on the project and the teaser trailer which just looks very slick in a ‘retro’ way.  It has that indie feel that Collora gave to Dead End had but since this is a feature length film they put a little more budget and styling into it.  To me this seems exactly what the first Star Wars must have felt like when it premiered: a little unknown movie that surprised everyone and later became the sci-fi behemoth it is today.  I’m not saying it will be the next…

    Who Ya Gonna Call?

Ghostbusters?…well friends, Sony confirms it, the original fearsome foursome are back in their third installment which I think, personally, should be left alone after 2. Now I love Ghostbusters, it was actually the very first DVD I ever bought…back in 1998.  In the halls of great 80’s characters, the spectral relocation firm of Stanz, Spengler, Venkman, and Zeddemore are among the most coveted and loved characters of any film genre.  However the above mentioned heroes (per the new films plot synopsis), are reportedly in trade talks and franchise sales…legal jargon aside, this new film’s premise is to hand-off the ghost busting business to a younger group. In the past the…

    Sweet 'Hunter Prey' Poster

I’ve not heard much of this film until now but am eagerly awaiting next week’s release of Sandy Collora’s teaser for Hunter Prey.  The good folks at SciFiScoop.com have scored an interview with Sandy Collora.  If you’ve been internet browsing in the past 5 years you should remember a little FanFilm called Batman: Dead End.  Well, that’s the same Sandy Collora.  If this still doesn’t ring a bell, here it is below: I’ve got to say I had forgotten “Dead End” but despite it falling off my radar does not take away from how great the premise of the film was and that it was executed very well for a…
