Jermaine Stegall is an accomplished and versatile composer and conductor. Stegall’s extensive music studies include a BA from Northern Illinois University’s School of Music, a Master’s degree in Music Composition from the University of North Texas, and the prestigious Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program at USC. Following his formal education, he was selected as a Sundance Composer Lab Fellow, as well as the BMI Conducting Workshop.
With over 50 projects to his credit, Stegall’s professional career began as a music intern for the film I, Robot, and Stegall’s scoring and conducting assignments have included film and TV shows in all genres, to leading bands at major musical events. He has also had the opportunity to collaborate over the years with notable film composers including Danny Elfman, Christophe Beck, Marco Beltrami, Harry Gregson-Williams, Christopher Lennertz, and Blake Neely.
In addition to a burgeoning composing career, Stegall was an active participant in the inaugural 2018-2020 Universal / Dreamworks Film Music Diversity Initiative program, working closely with the film music teams of Universal Pictures, Focus Features, and Dreamworks Animation.
Jermaine also provided additional music scoring for Christophe Beck’s score for the holiday Netflix Original series The Christmas Chronicles, and The Christmas Chronicles 2 directed by Chris Columbus (The first three Harry Potter movies, Home Alone, The Goonies, and Gremlins). Jermaine has also scored over 23 feature films, and the recent scores to “Proximity” (directed by Emmy-Winning Eric Demeusy) and “Canvas” (directed by former Pixar animator Frank Abney III), were both recorded at one of his favorite scoring stages, Skywalker Sound.
Jermaine recently completed the score to Craig Brewer’s Coming 2 America for Paramount Pictures starring Eddie Murphy, James Earl Jones, Wesley Snipes, Arsenio Hall, Tracy Morgan and Leslie Jones.
