Ohhh, Listen…First M83 Track Released From The 'Oblivion' Score

At G-S-T we’ve become increasingly fond of the group M83. It’s not hard once you listen to a few tracks since they have such a distinct and infectious sound. When Joseph Kosinski began work on his second film after the TRON: Legacy many wondered if Daft Punk would return to knock another score out of the park. Well Kosinski enlisted the above mentioned French group to score the film and that only made the production of Oblivion that much more appealing.

Recently the first track from the score, titled “StarWaves” was released (thanks to Rolling Stone for the heads up) and it sounds goooood! Have a listen and enjoy the epic and ethereal sound composed by Anthony Gonzalez and Joseph Trapanese.

So far, from the gorgeous posters, the awesome trailers, the talent involved and of course M83, there is nothing about Oblivion that doesn’t look like a solid win. It is one of our most anticipated films of 2013 and the good news is we’re now just about a month away from seeing it. Here’s hoping, wishing and praying that Kosinski’s second at bat will be the grand slam we’re expecting.

Oblivion is directed by Joseph Kosinski from a script that was rewritten by Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII). It also features music from M83 (above!) and stars an impressive cast including Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough, Olga Kurylenko, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Melissa Leo.

Universal will release Oblivion exclusively in IMAX theaters this Spring on April 12th, 2013and then expand to wide release on April 19th.
