Today we get our first glimpse at Gore Verbinski’s Lone Ranger starring Armie Hammer as the titular hero and Johnny Depp as Tonto. After so many production delays/budget problems it looks like the Lone Ranger will finally get to ride. Hi Ho Silver! Since this has stopped and started so many times you might have forgotten what this is all about. If so, here’s the official synopsis:
The Lone Ranger is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
Directed by long time Disney favorite Gore Verbinski this film also features Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter. Disney’s Lone Ranger is slated to hit theaters this Spring on May 31, 2013. Looks promising and, as usual, Depp plays the odd ball so well and fingers crossed for Hammer. What do you think? don’t know how I feel about Tonto’s dead bird hat, but despite that, I’m looking forward to seeing what Depp does with the character. Can’t wait for the first trailer!
