Sweet (Teaser) Trailer…’Kung Fu Panda 2′

OK I have to admit that of the ho-hum and forgettable past Dreamworks Animation pictures, I was extremely surprised with Kung Fu Panda. While I believe that Jack Black is a dish made tolerable in small doses, he fit the character Po perfectly; clumsy, pitiful but still heartwarmingly hilarious. Anyway Dreamworks has been working on the follow up titled Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom and it’ll actually be here pretty soon. For now, take a look at the teaser trailer below…

This upcoming animated film and the sequel to the 2008 film, Kung Fu Panda will be presented in 3-D. Directed by Jennifer Yuh, this sequel follows Po and the Furious Five. They venture to China to battle a villain and uncover the secrets of Po’s mysterious origins. Most of the original cast returning as well as some new characters. IMDb lists Gary Oldman, Jean-Claude Van Damme, James Woods, and Michelle Yeoh (and others) among the featured new voice talents.

Wow! That’s some line up for the sequel. Yet of all the returning/new cast I am excited to hear what Gary Oldman will be playing (IMDb lists him as “Lord Shen”) as he’s just a welcomed addition to any film. But as far as aspirations for the sequel I hope one element is rectified. It’s a small shame that Jackie Chan (you know martial expert/God that he is) was snubbed in the first film and given so few lines. Oh well not a deal breaker by any means and this is one I am looking forward to. Also, as Dreamworks has not only stepped up their game story-wise, their 3D is continually impressive as all get out. Kung Fu Panda 2 is expected in theaters next year on May 26, 2011. We can’t wait to hear more about this. What about you??
