Sweet Trailer…Robert Redford's ‘The Company You Keep’

Last month we posted the first promo images from Robert Redford‘s upcoming film The Company You Keep. Well hot off Lawless (check out our review here) Shia LaBeouf may continue to impress us as a capable thespian and not be the man-faced boy running from autonomous robots. In the film, Jim Grant (Redford) is a widowed single father and attorney living in Albany who was once a member of the activist/terrorist organization “the Weather Underground”. Wanted for robbery and the murder of a security guard, Jim has been in hiding for more than thirty years. When another former Weatherman (Susan Sarandon) turns herself in to the FBI, aggressive young journalist Ben Shepard (Shia LaBeouf) starts sniffing around for leads, gradually finding his way to Jim. Concerned that Ben will eventually discover his true identity, Jim flees, and the game is afoot. Have a look…

Things look really great for the film; great tension, great premise, and a super-great cast (although she didn’t show up in the trailer, we hope a larger audience will discover the enigmatic and magnetic Brit Marling). Directed by Oscar-winner Robert Redford, The Company You Keep also stars, brace yourself, Sam Elliott, Brendan Gleeson, Terrence Howard, Richard Jenkins, Anna Kendrick, Stanley Tucci, Nick Nolte, Chris Cooper and Julie Christie. Wow is right.

The Company You Keep  will be playing at the 2012 TIFF and then expand to wide release, but no dates have been set as of now. Whatcha think? Look like a wild ride??

Looking forward to this film too. I’m not going to mention when and where I’ll be seeing it, because I’d like Andy to still be my friend by the end of this comment.

Don’t worry, Sam. Even when I’m seething with envy at your TIFF credentials, I’m still your friend. I’m just your jealous friend!
