Sweet Trailer…'Snow White & The Huntsman' – UPDATED

Wow! I knew this other Snow White movie was going for a larger and grittier tone but I wasn’t expecting this. From Universal Pictures comes the Rupert Sanders directed take on the Snow White story we all know…or think we know. Combining the looks of the Lord of the Rings trilogy with a scale on par with anything Ridley Scott has ever done this just floored me. Enough words, just watch…oh and sorry for the short ad below. Enjoy!!

Going for a rather heavy and dark spin on the famous fairytale this looks, as I kind of imagined, waaay more interesting and captivating than the upcoming Tarsem Singh film Mirror, Mirror. Can’t say much for Kristen Stewart in the lead role as she doesn’t utter a sound in this trailer but Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron look very fitting as the Huntsman and the Evil Queen…and did you see that Mirror?? That should have been something we’d expect to see in Tarsem’s version if you ask me. With an unseen cast equally as grand as this story, Snow White & the Huntsman (#SWATH for short) features the talents of Ian McShane, Toby Jones, Ray Winstone, Bob Hoskins, Eddie Marsan as the dwarfs and Sam Calfin as the Prince.

Universal will be bringing this to theaters next Summer (well, technically Spring) on June 1st 2011. I think it was the LorR feel that did it for me but I’ll ask you. Does anyone like the look of this? Anyone intrigued in the least??

I just posted this earlier, too. I was pleasantly surprised myself, Marc. Wow, Tarsem’s got his work cut out for him, but who knows, the visual maestro just might have something entirely different visually, but so far I definitely dig the gritty look of this version.

I’m thinking this looks pretty sweet myself. I never would have given it a chance had I not seen the trailer. I’m wondering how the competing Snow White film looks in comparison. Haven’t seen that preview yet.

One word Markus…don’t. It’s not very good at all. Immature, cheesy and something along the lines of an ABC Family movie. But the intent was to make it “sickeningly kiddie” and that’s where they lost me. SWATH all the way!!
