    Sweet Trailer…Gareth Edwards’ ‘Godzilla’

He’s big, he’s bad and he is, without doubt, king of the monsters. And who better to bring this revitalized story of Godzilla to the big screen than Gareth Edwards? Sure he made a huge name for himself with his little film Monsters (a film that, partly because of the budget, focused way more on the human element in the aftermath of montrous devastation than the creatures) but can ge do justice to Toho’s legendary property? Well if you’ve seen the first trailer, and the awesome posters, then the property looks to be in good hands. Sit back and enjoy more epic monsterness…yes we know that’s not a word. Behold…

    “The CineMagic 8-Ball” – In Theaters 10/12/12

When so many movies are released each weekend and trailers often seem better than the movie itself, what should one do? In this precarious situation, we consult the The CineMagic 8-Ball (TM) to help us see through the nebulous marketing haze. Doing so just might save us all a disheartening trip to the cinema and spare us unnecessarily springing for $7 popcorn. See what the 8-Ball says about this week’s releases… ——————————————————————————————————————————————- HERE COMES THE BOOM Former collegiate wrestler Scott Voss is a 42-year-old apathetic biology teacher in a failing high school. G-S-T Review…Total Recall

In the film world, remakes get a bad rap and it’s mainly because most of them don’t offer anything new. Just the word “remake” can make people irk. Sometimes a remake comes along that can beat the odds, gain a new audience and impress existing fans with the update; sadly, this is not one of them…but it’s not like anyone was holding their breath. Len Wiseman (the Underworld series, Live Free or Die Hard) gives us a new spin on both the 1990 Paul Verhoeven action-classic and the Phillip K. Dick short film which inspired it. But what do we get with this face-lift? Not very much, which is disappointing because Wiseman has assembled some of…

    Sweet Trailer…'Total Recall'

The final trailer for the Len Wiseman remake of Total Recall hit the web last night right as we were at a Press screening of The Amazing Spider-Man (review up real soon) so we’re just now getting to it…you’ve probably already seen it (and all the nods to the original) but here it is again. Still not sold on it, but maybe it’ll be more fun in the theater…enjoy! The new adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s short story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale” takes cues from highly stylized big budgets sci-films as you’re bound to see bits of Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, Minority Report just to name…

    Sweet Trailer…'Argo'

Ben Affleck impressed a lot of people with Gone Baby Gone and The Town, but while we were only half impressed with his Boston rendition of HEAT, he still has some undeniable talent. His next project is an ambitious story which details the declassified events about a hostage crisis that took place in Iran on November 4th, 1979. 6 of 52 American hostages managed to escape the siege when militants stormed the U.S. embassy in Tehran. Taking refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador, the film shows the efforts that CIA “exfiltration” specialist Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) came up with to get them safely out of the country. Have a look for yourselves……

    Teaser Trailer…'John Carter of Mars'

Director Andrew Stanton has been hard at work on his big screen adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic sci-fi novel A Princess of Mars and all the while we’ve been wondering how it was shaping up. Recently we’ve seen some concept images (after the jump), a lack luster poster but today we get our first glimpse of the world of John Carter. Admittedly its still rough and has a SyFy feel to it but it looks like it’s headed in the right direction. Well how would I know, I’ve never read the book:P Anyway, for your enjoyment, a look at Andrew Stanton’s live-action epic… Sporting a varied but still very…

    Sweet Trailer…'Contagion'

Out of relatively nowhere comes Steven Soderbergh’s sci-fi thriller Contagion. Similar in tone to 28 Days Later (just sans the Zed heads) this film shows what happens to society in the face of fear. Hmmm, I though Soderbergh was done with Hollywood and planning to retire if he “saw one more over the shoulder shot“. Ah well a filmmaker as good as he he can never really leave the game can he? And thank God for that, right? So before you have a look, let me warn you that this trailer is totally spoiler-heavy and gives us more than probably should be reveald in the very first trailer. So choose…
