Sweet Trailer…’How To Train Your Dragon 2′

One of the biggest (and unexpected) hits in the DreamWorks Animation catalog is their medieval adventure story How To Train Your Dragon. Delightful, fanciful, funny and heartwarming that story, about a boy and his dragon, just keeps giving and giving and now, best of all, DreamWorks Animation is giving us a sequel. The trailer for this follow-up to the 2010 film just hit and it looks like more high-flying fun. It features the return of the original cast as well as that patented DreamWorks charm. Enjoy! It’s been five years since Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snoutlout and the rest…

G-S-T Trailer Round-Up: Drive Blue, Pain & Bay, and Apocalypse

The Mayans may have been wrong about the end of the world, but don’t worry– the Go, See, Talk! Trailer Round-Up is here with two visions of Armageddon to slake your thirst for wanton destruction. Of the pair, the first isn’t a literal Ragnarok, but rather a localized catastrophe that devours an entire city; then again, when your film is set against a backdrop of explosions, crumbling buildings, and rapidly rising social anarchy, maybe that counts as the wholesale destruction of a cinematic world. Either way, Aftershock looks harsh, nasty, and bonkers in all the right ways, though I’ll take bets on how long Eli Roth actually survives in the film (and on…

    Sweet 2nd Trailer…'Django Unchained'

It’s tough to believe it’s been 4 whole months since we got our first look at Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained. Well they say that good things are worth waiting for because this trailer is all kinds of awesome. Featuring QT’s razor sharp writing and some of the finest acting talent on the planet, this looks like the movie to beat this year (sorry Hobbit) and will make one helluva Christmas present. No more talk…enjoy!! Starring Oscar-winners Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Oscar-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio this follow-up to Inglourious Basterds can be expected to be equally saturated in great writing, superb acting and memorable characters/exchanges. Oh, man we can’t wait for this!! The Weinstien Company and Columbia Pictures have Django Unchained (“the D is silent“) scheduled to hit…

    G-S-T Review…The Watch

A sincere question for my readers: is it worse for a movie to be derivative or lifeless? The Watch, the second feature by The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaeffer, borrows liberally from science fiction cinema classics like Invasion of the Body Snatchers (take your pick between the ’56 and ’78 versions) as well as contemporary greats like last year’s excellent Attack the Block, but the film’s worst transgression isn’t its unapologetic mimicry. Calling on decades-old genre traditions is one thing; turning out an embarrassingly brainless, thoroughly bland, and criminally unfunny attempt at sci-fi comedy is another entirely. The Watch shows as little interest in its aliens as its punchlines. Not to mention its characters. Like the best…

    G-S-T Review…21 Jump Street

Phil Lord’s and Chris Miller’s 21 Jump Street shouldn’t be as brilliant as it is. In fact, on paper, it’s a film that seems ripe for evisceration at the hands of critics and cineastes for whom kvetching about Hollywood’s modern culture of property recycling has become as much a pastime as actually watching movies. Maybe 21 Jump Street is an easy target; its premise is so hopelessly cheesy that it could only be a product of the late 80s, while Jonah Hill’s comedic stock has been wavering since 2010’s Get Him to the Greek. Tack Channing Tatum on and you have a project that reads like a fake film-within-a-film from Entourage. Who gave a…
