Tom Hardy Slated To Lead PTSD Drama 'Samarkand'

Tom Hardy has continually been on the rise as of late. While we didn’t see as much of him in Inception and TDKR as we wanted to, he’s still got tremendous acting chops. Hardy is an in-demand actor with lots of projects in the pipeline and the good news is we’ll be seeing a lot more of him in the future. Deadline is reporting that one of his latest is Samarkand which he is developing with Solar Pictures. Directed by Greg Williams, the film is described as a drama which focuses on the issue of post traumatic stress disorder. G-S-T Review…Lawless

In his latest film John Hillcoat delivers a fantastic period-piece film based on the book “The Wettest County in the World” (an account of the true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family). Titled simply Lawless this adaptation chronicles the events around the Bondurant family at the pinnacle of their prohibition-era moonshine business and how three Virginia brothers became legends unto themselves. Historically party to and at the center of the infamous “Franklin county moonshine conspiracy” the trio faced opposition on many fronts not just from the authorities but also bigger and similarly illegal outfits. A wild ride for any film fan the events depicted become even more engaging as it’s revealed that their story…

    G-S-T Review…The Dark Knight Rises

A third film seems to be the biggest pitfall in nearly every trilogy. Some see it as a challenge, and that’s likely what propelled director Christopher Nolan to return to the helm of the franchise he rebooted in 2005 with Batman Begins and hit out of the park in 2008 with The Dark Knight. Nolan has been trending steadily upward and seemed to be making strides to not only top his second Batman film, but also send him off with the knowledge that he created one of the greatest trilogies of the modern age and avoided the common trappings of the blockbuster films in the post-Avatar 3D era. Perhaps that was simply too much…

Sweet 3rd Trailer…'The Dark Knight Rises'

Well Bat-friends, we are getting ever closer to the last leg in Chritopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are two of the finest comic book adapations to ever grace the screen but more important are also just great films. Nolan has incredible reverence for the characters and the mythology and before we go up, up, and away with his Man of Steel project, here’s his final foray into the Gotham part of the DC universe. Behold, the final full trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. Was that awesome or what?? No honestly, tell us because we couldn’t watch it. Reason? Well, we believe that a film as…

    G-S-T Review…This Means War

The romantic comedy genre usually has one thing down pat: the comedy. Even if you simply roll your eyes at the romance of it, they are usually genuinely funny. Unless they are This Means War, one of the weakest efforts from the romantic comedy genre I have seen in the past few years. That’s a shame because some of the trailers hint at something that takes a different and fresh approach. For instance, what if two buddy spies fell for the same girl, and used all of the tools available to them to take advantage of the situation? That should be an interesting premise. Turns out what is written on…

    G-S-T Review…Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy brilliantly captures the zeitgeist of the Cold War era. For you purists out there, this work of art utilizes aged film grain throughout the entire picture. This is not a film set in the 1970’s, shot in HD and hurled at your face in 3D. This motion picture is one of the closest representations of a 1970’s spy film, since the 1970’s. If you still own, or ever owned, a Betamax VCR you might wish, for nostalgia sake only, that this movie was being released on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Copy, Ultraviolet Digital Copy and Betamax (not VHS).
