Teaser Trailer…’John Carter of Mars’

Director Andrew Stanton has been hard at work on his big screen adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic sci-fi novel A Princess of Mars and all the while we’ve been wondering how it was shaping up. Recently we’ve seen some concept images (after the jump), a lack luster poster but today we get our first glimpse of the world of John Carter. Admittedly its still rough and has a SyFy feel to it but it looks like it’s headed in the right direction. Well how would I know, I’ve never read the book:P Anyway, for your enjoyment, a look at Andrew Stanton’s live-action epic…

Sporting a varied but still very impressive cast, John Carter of Mars stars the likes of Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, Ciarán Hinds, Willem Dafoe and may others including Taylor Kitsch as the titular alienated hero. With all that high caliber talent, including Oscar Winning director Andrew Stanton, I just don’t know about the look of this teaser trailer…yet. I’m getting a Prince of Persia (or a would-be God of War) vibe from it but that might be unfair association. There looks to be tons of potential and I’ll admit it’s too early to take a solid stance but I need more than this to be sold.

Disney has slated John Carter of Mars for a late Winter release on March 9th, 2012.

In case you missed the concept artwork have a look as well as one the official poster:

I really want to be on board but like I said above, unless you’re a fan of the series, I think it’s too soon to tell. But that’s just me. What do you think? Anyone feel one way or another about this??
