The Hollywood Reporter's Roundtable Series: Directors

Every year, just before Oscar season kicks into gear, The Hollywood Reporter holds their insightful series of hour-long roundtables. Last week THR released their session with the leading ladies expected to make waves this year and now the Directors are having their cordial chat round the table. This year’s crop is quite impressive and the 6 personalities are as entertaining and insightful as the are varied. As usual it’s 60 minutes so don’t let me keep you any longer. Plug in some headphones and fire this bad boy up…

Ang Lee (Life of Pi)David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook), Ben Affleck (Argo), Quentin Tarantino (Django Unchained), Gus Van Sant (Promised Land), and Tom Hooper (Les Miserables) all give some great answers to even the more obscure and off-the-cuff sounding questions. While there’s no certainty these will find their names on the nominee ballot cards, it’s always interesting to hear the opinions and stories from seasoned and talented filmmakers. This installment did not disappoint.

Playing the “Academy Speculation Game”, I think I am pulling for Lee to take home the little golden man, but that’s because right now it’s the only one of the above 6 I’ve seen and half of them aren’t even out yet. *searches for Academy screeners* Guess I’ve got some homework this weekend. So what’d you all think? Who did you find the most informative??
