When it comes to big time filmmakers, it’s tough to get any more majestic than Christopher Nolan. Looking back over his career, even his more quaint outings were still brimming with grandiose plots and through lines. Since the days of Following and Memento, he’s helped re-imagine super hero films, heady heist films, detective yarns, war narratives, intergalactic family affairs, and techy spy thrillers. One thing is for sure, Nolan films are event films. Case in point. His latest is an epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man, J. Robert Oppenheimer, who must risk destroying the world in order to save it. It was one…

Sweet Trailer…’The Last Voyage of the Demeter’
Vampires, like zombies, will literally never die. This latest Universal picture dives into the world of Bram Stoker’s Dracula with an ultra tense story that is actually just one chapter from the beloved literary classic. Essentially, it’s like Alien on a ship and that kind of claustrophobic setting always yields explosive results. This looks like strong steps for the studio to lean back into their classic horror properties and put their Dark Universe in the rear view. We’re gonna bet that this has the sea legs to make some waves in theaters. Additionally, it’s helmed by André Øvredal which also seems highly promising. Ahoy, mate. There be a blood moon…

Ohhh, Look… ‘Halloween Ends’ The Final Battle Featurette
After 45 years, the most acclaimed, revered horror franchise in film history reaches its epic, terrifying conclusion as Laurie Strode faces off for the last time against the embodiment of evil, Michael Myers, in a final confrontation unlike any captured on-screen before. Only one of them will survive. Icon Jamie Lee Curtis returns for the last time as Laurie Strode, horror’s first “final girl” and the role that launched Curtis’ career. Curtis has portrayed Laurie for more than four decades now, one of the longest actor-character pairings in cinema history. In this unexpected final chapter, set four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter…

Sweet Trailer…Tom Hanks in ‘News of the World’
Seems that even in a pandemic, you can’t keep a good Hanks down. First of all, he and his wife Rita beat the Coronavirus. And shortly after that, his WWII actioner, Greyhound, was released in early Summer. And for his third feat of 2020, he headlines a moving period-piece, set in the plains of Texas, about a war veteran helping return a young girl to her family. Paul Greengrass’ new film – a Western written and directed by Greengrass (based upon the novel by Paulette Jiles) – finds him reuniting with his star from their 2013 Best Picture nominee Captain Phillips. Looks like another winning project for the both of…

Interview…’Driven’ Director on Lee Pace and the Life and Times of John Z. DeLorean
To many, John Z. DeLorean is a man steeped in equal amounts of esteem and intrigue. He lived a fascinating life, but after his time with GM, he reached point where all his fame turned to infamy. In the 30 minutes I spent with director Nick Hamm, we discussed the road he wanted to take to bring this character to the screen. Hamm admits that DeLorean’s life isn’t interesting enough for him to have taken the biopic route, and similarly, a documentary might have felt stale. So basing this narrative around the actual events of DeLorean’s attempts to start and save his car company (including the cocaine sting operation that…
