Ohhh, Look…Check Out Spidey's New Suit For 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

Now that the Oscars are over we can fully put 2012 behind us and look forward to all the splendor and highly anticipated films of 2013. Super-heroes have been all the rage and thankfully have become more hit than miss as of late. One property that has been and continues to stay near the top of the pyramid is Spider-Man. Last year Marc Webb proved that his slightly unnecessary reboot was on par with the Raimi trilogy, if not better in many ways. Well, Marc Webb’s got a lot of elements and characters to manage if he hopes to top the success of his 2012 film and keep this new adventure from feeling bloated and…

Ohhh, Look…'Iron Man 3' Poster Shows Don Cheadle As The Iron Patriot

After yesterday’s sneak peek at the Iron Man 3 poster, Disney has just unveiled the latest bit of marketing for their upcoming super-hero film. Not like it was any mystery that Don Cheadle (playing Lt. Col. James Rhodes) would be wearing the “Iron Patriot” armor in this film, but this poster is still neat to look at. So now that the cat, er Cheadle is fully out of the bag, let’s just skip to the good stuff… We really hope the “teaser for movie posters” concept Disney pulled yesterday doesn’t take off. The teaser for teaser trailer trend was pushing it. But anyway, we are where we are and regardless of the…

Ohhh, Look…Awesome Super Hero Silhouette Artwork

This week we see the Blu-Ray release of the final chapter in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. 2012 has been a really great year for comics/super hero films. While The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises won over fans worldwide and joined the billionaire’s club, that Marvel reboot of questionable necessity (aka The Amazing Spider-Man) was no slouch either. So now that the box office battle is over, we fans can return to waiting for the next installment of our favorite franchises (sorry Nolan Batman fans, doesn’t look like we’ll see Bale take up the cowl again) and, if it suits your fancy, dressing up like your favorite heroes. Well even if you don’t do the latter, the kid…

    G-S-T Review…The Amazing Spider-Man

In an ever improving and expanding world of comic book super hero films, Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) give us a new Spider-Man, one that is in many cases, an improvement over what Sony was so desperate to reboot. There’s lots of changes but where to begin? Well everything we’ve previously seen or knew, as to be expected in a “reboot”, has been scrapped. But while this is an almost unnecessary “here’s how we got here” story, meaning that there are marginally few people who don’t know how Peter Parker became Spider-Man, it’s good to see the new blood earn the suit…and earn it he did. A decade ago, we got the the best screen version of…

Sweet Trailer…Four-Minute Extended Preview of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

Like all great trailers, this 4 minute preview of Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man has been teased, hyped and like the two that came before it, TOTALLY delivers. Endless love for Raimi and Maguire aside, this looks fantastic. As you might suspect, 4 minutes will show more than you probably wanted to see but it is worth it. Enjoy this “super preview” and the two latest theatrical posters below… Even though this is an origin story (that some still call unnecessary) Webb’s Spider-Man will do one better by going with some deeper back-story to tell the “untold story” of Peter Parker. Specifically we’ll learn how he came to be raised by his…

Ohhh, Look…In Case You Missed It – Marvel Easter Eggs Leading Up To The Avengers

Now that everyone who got to see The Avengers this weekend helped contriute to its $200.3 Million opening, let me ask you, how did you like it? Well it should be no secret that we loved it. But while it was the culmination of the 6 origin stories that preceded it, it’s not exactly more than the sum of its parts. Hints, references, reveals and Easter Eggs aplenty from the Marvel universe have been carefully placed in each film leading up to The Avengers, but were you able to catch them all? Hopefully if you haven’t see The Avengers yet, and if it’s been a while since you saw Captain America, Thor, and both…

    G-S-T Review…The Avengers

After leaving The Avengers, the first thought likely to come to mind is wow, wow and more WOW. That’s right comic friends, Joss Whedon isn’t joking around with this one. He delivers the comic book experience fans have been anticipating since Stan Lee co-created these iconic heroes decades ago. In what is the most ambitious and large scale comic film to date, there is no shortage of spectacle, excitement and near-epic story all rolled into one 142 minute feature. Whedon is known for being a fan boy at heart and as such delivers this film with such respect to not only the comics but also, and maybe more importantly, the fans. Nothing…

The Avengers: Minimalist Posters & Fictitious Apple Products

The world is getting amped for The Avengers movie and if you hadn’t been keeping up, it opens in theaters exactly one month from today. The hype machine is high gear and we’ve seen trailers, TV spots, posters as well as behind the scenes featurettes/images. They’re all highly sylized and compelling but as minimalist posters are still kind of the “in” thing I thought I’d throw my hat in the ring this one time. Below are some very simple Avengers character posters and a team poster I designed in sort of a 60’s/retro motif. Again very simple (like 12 minutes to make simple), they’re even minimal for minimalist standards but…

    Sweet 2nd Trailer…'The Avengers'

The Super Bowl TV spot gave us a really good look at Joss Whedon’s Avengers adaptation and now we have a much grander glimpse at this epic action film. Have to say it’s looking better and better and May 4th is just about 2 months away. Avengers Assemble!! Joss Whedon’s film adaptation of the Marvel comic series features Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson. Oh, and in case you missed it yesterday an official poster was released. Have a look at the team (more or less) in action. Click on it to see the hi-res version… The Avengers is set to slam into…

    Sweet (2nd) Trailer…'The Amazing Spider-Man'

The term “jaw-dropping” gets thrown around a lot when talking about films. But how many trailers do you recall that you think deserved to be called the same? Today we have the second full trailer for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man and I think it is totally jaw-dropping!! Many, many people were curious to see how anyone would top the Raimi films (putting aside the fact that this series reboot was started so insultingly soon after Spider-Man 3) but this trailer should find all naysayers, myself included, picking their chins off the floor. Enjoy!! Andrew Garfield stars as Peter Parker along with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy (fun fact: she’s the second red-head to…

Sweet Trailer…'The Avengers' Super Bowl TV Spot

The Avengers has been a long time coming with 6, count em, 6 films (4 origin stories, 1 sequel and 1 reboot) leading up to Joss Whedon’s highly  anticipated ensemble action flick. Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Iron Man and Hulk are all that stands between Loki and the certain annihilation of Earth. Sure he’s got an army but we have…well, you’ll see! Have a look at the full Super Bowl TV Spot for The Avengers… Admittedly this is little more than what we’ve seen in the teaser. I mean we still don’t even know who The Avengers are fighting. But is that a problem? If you ask me, I say not one bit. Sure is…

Ohhh, Look…Insane Behind the Scenes Reel for ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’

In the comic book world, adaptations can swing wildly from perfection to utter tragedy with a handful of films finding home in the middle ground. In the past I’ve gone on about which comic films have been good, bad and break evens but filmmakers are finding their groove these days and most of those films are putting their properties in the win columns. One to root for an underdog, when a product is ill-received in the first go round I am always up for a redeeming sequel. But when a film is so bad even those responsible wish they could unsee it, a prequel, sequel or reboot, even in this day and age,…
