Of all the fans who flock to San Diego Comic Con, some of the most die-hard enthusiasts (aside from cosplayers, obviously) have to be film score fans. Well, for those of you who adore that big Hollywood symphonic (and synthetic) sound to all the tent pole comic films, here is a panel that is right up your alley.
Just like last year, several A-list composers will be attending SDCC and their panel, Musical Anatomy of a Superhero will provide insight on the process of creating a theme, transforming the theme throughout the story line while following the often uphill battle that our heroes travel.
From the ominous horns of Jaws signaling fear, to the inspiring theme for Star Wars, music has always been an important supporting character in movies. For the superhero genre, the music reflects these emotions and more. Leading Hollywood Film & TV composers offer a behind the scenes look at the music of today’s biggest superhero film and TV projects with unreleased film clips and never before heard music.
Now in its third year, the panel has become a Comic-Con favorite that debuts film and TV clips from upcoming projects. Composers discuss collaborating with the directors and the challenges involved in telling a story with music. The panelists emphasize the integral nature that music plays within TV shows and movies.
The panel is produced by Costa Communications and sponsored by ASCAP.
For those interested, Junkie XL (Mad Max: Fury Road, Batman v. Superman, Black Mass), Brian Tyler (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Furious 7, Ironman 3), Marco Beltrami (Fantastic Four, Wolverine, Hellboy), Christophe Beck (Ant-Man, Frozen, Edge of Tomorrow), Blake Neely (CBS’s Supergirl, CW’s The Flash, CW’s Arrow), Lorne Balfe (Terminator Genisys, Home) will headline the event and be on hand to answer questions from the fans.
This epic panel will take place on Thursday, July 9th, 2015 from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM in the Indigo Ballroom, Hilton Bayfront Hotel.
