So what makes us at Go,See,Talk tick? Well, for those of you who have read our reviews, and are scratching your head about how we grade films, don’t worry, there is a method behind the madness.
Our specific rating system takes a cue from that brainiac Aristotle, and it’s based on the dramatic theory he documented in his work, Poetics. We’ve narrowed those eleven principles down to four key criteria and use them to evaluate films (New Releases and films in our Off the Shelf series).
Using select categories – CHARACTER, PLOT, MELODY, and SPECTACLE – we combine them to create our very own “QuadCard.” Each category is graded on a scale from 1 to 4, and together it contributes to an overall cohesive “report card” score. You don’t even have to read our reviews (we don’t blame you, we can ramble), just check out the graphic to see what we think.
At the end of the day, we are movie fanatics sounding off about most things that the world cinema has to offer – interesting casting news, sweet (and not so sweet) trailers, movie reviews, interviews, and our very own FourScore series which focuses on film scores and the composers behind them.
In regards to anything we comment on, not every staff writer or contributor is a certified critic, each of us have our individual opinions on what works for us, and what doesn’t.
