Interview…Voice Artist Tim Burden on The Legacy of John Williams, Live Orchestras, and La-La Land Records

One of the joys of running this site is that, over the years, we’ve made friends and colleagues in the journalism and entertainment industries. And it’s extra special when you’re able to bond over common interests. In this case, we are happy to know a very experienced and devoted film score fan by the name of Tim Burden.

We interviewed Tim years ago, and got to know all about his work championing film music, as well as his other pursuits in the arts.

It all started with a discussion about his father, the legendary London Symphony French Horn player, John Burden. We love diving back into our old interviews from time to time, and this one with Tim is always a fun read.

Some weeks ago, we got to catch up and had a very fun and breezy chat on a Sunday afternoon. As you might expect, it was all too easy to get swept up in the joy that this kind music brings. But we also dive into John Williams, La-La Land Records’ 20th anniversary, and many other great musical experiences.

In Tim’s case, he’s been around A LOT of those. In our session, he shared stories about the John Williams Birthday celebration (including getting 2,500 people to sing John “Happy Birthday” in Waterfront Hall in Belfast), and a rather sensational Leonard Bernstein at 100 event, among plenty others.

So please allow the two of us to treat you to what is essentially two film score enthusiasts on a park bench. Say, is that a better name for the podcast?? No, it’s not. We’ll keep working on it. Until then, enjoy this audio session with Tim!
