Getting to break new music to you is a real treat. Sometimes it’s a pinch myself moment, and as such, in this new Lionsgate film starring Aziz Ansari, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, Sandra O and Keanu Reeves, all I can think to say is “woah!” So, hat tip to our good friends at Lakeshore Records for allowing us to grace your ears with not one, but two cues from Carter Burwell‘s score to Good Fortune.
Burwell’s light-hearted score incorporates retro sounding keys and synths and mixes them with strings and vocalizations to create a mischievously whimsical backdrop to the surprising supernatural comedy. The tracks below have a good bit of fun to them as Burwell is vastly skilled at themes with nuance, character, and warmth. These are no exception, so crack ’em open and check out the goodness within.

Burwell notes that his score was one where sincerity was key,
“The story of Good Fortune walks a line between comedy and social commentary, and the score attempts to walk a similar line between playing the sincere emotions of the characters and commenting on the absurdity of their situations. I think the score is at its best when it’s doing both at the same time. In some areas of the film Aziz and I kept circling through these options right up to – and even after – the recording of the score.”
Good Fortune—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is available digitally today, with an original score by the Oscar-nominated composer.
