We like storytellers who are true to themselves. Further, we applaud those who set out to make the things they want to see…even if they aren’t sure the world is ready for their vision. That, in short, is commitment and is really what the arts are all about. So it is with great joy that we get to catch up with writer/director Tiffany Kimmel about her interests, her ambition and the stories and themes she wants to bring into existence.
A chance encounter at Fantastic Fest years ago allowed us to meet. She was there with Everybody Goes to the Hospital which was her first short film and directing credit. She’s charismatic, talented and willing to get dirty in the creative sandbox. Since then we’ve been in awe of her determination for one simple reason: TK gets things done!
Tiffany recently had her latest short film premiere on the DUST channel on YouTube. You can check it out below, but Civil Service is a dystopian slice-of-life tale about a troubled individual in a position of power. The story gets high points and high fives for the production design and the themes (both on the surface as well as in the subtext). And given this is the from the same person who adores puppets, theatricality and trauma bombs, the subtext sometimes speaks louder than anything else.
On that note, we were supposed to talk about Civil Service. But we ended chatting about everything else in her world…and I’m not even joking. We spent more than an hour shooting the breeze about home schooling, nihilism, cowboy artists, Bob Baker and Bob Barker, clowns, stop motion, and so much more.
So jump right into the wild and fun ride with Tiffany on this enjoy this episode of The GoSeeTalk Podcast Experience!
CIVIL SERVICE is a surrealist exploration of corporate bureaucracy and the kinds of men who choose to rise within government agencies only to dismantle what the public entrusts them to protect.
“Civil Service” by Tiffany Kimmel premired on YT on September 7, 2026.
