Last night, my fiance and 2 newlywed friends of ours went to see Liam Neeson’s newest film at the Studio Movie Grill. For those of you who don’t live in Texas, its a movie theater that serves food and drinks right while you watch the movie. Fantastic 4 Reboot…Anyone care??
I’ve written before about remakes and reboots. And since Reboot seems to be the vernacular coming off every studio exec’s tongue these days, everything under the sun is getting a re-do. Fantastic 4 is next in the firing line. Now I understand if something doesn’t work out the first time, if you have the means, then give it another go, but come on, F4??… I think I can see where the studio got the idea for this in 4 letters…H-U-L-K. Pirates 4?
For every trilogy that finishes to tremendous audience approval and long-lasting endearment, there are countless more that don’t succeed as well. In my opinion, Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones are all great stories that finish in 3 acts and should sit atop a pedestal labeled “This is how you do a trilogy right”. I know there was a 4th Indiana Jones film but I don’t consider ‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ a legitimate Indiana Jones film (in fact I try to deny it’s existence actually…it was just bad). Sweet Trailer…'The Hangover' Teaser
I was looking on First Showing and saw this hilarious trailer (teaser actually) for The Hangover. I won’t bother trying to describe the plot as its all summed up in the trailer. This particular trailer is very well done and I think this film will be a winner, so I’m really looking forward to it. Mark your calendars for June 5th, but for now, enjoy this teaser… P.S. Scary Movies: Is There Anything That Isn't Trite These Days?
I’m not one for scary movies. Its not that I am afraid to see them, its just that they bore me. They seem even more predictable than a romantic comedy. Usually, I think I have a good “Spider Sense” when it comes to those types of films. When I see a trailer, about 95% of the time, I can say with certainty, “Well that’s gonna suck”…and it does. After that, I am also usually on par with how film does at the box office as well. As anyone who sits in a theater watches a 2:30 trailer before their movie starts can attest to, the Trailer Industry is nothing short of pure magic. It can simultaneously whip an unsuspecting crowd into a frenzy, or repel even the most patient and trustworthy fan of any genre or series.
