Exclusive First Listen: Brian Tyler Works Magic with ‘Now You See Me: Now You Don’t’

They say the third time’s the charm for anything. Yet when it comes to Brian Tyler, esteemed composer of plenty of blockbuster films in the last ten years, he knocks it out of the park on his first at bat. Having said that, any time that he gets to dip back into a franchise, Brian offers up something new and fresh that still retains the magic he conjured the first time around.

So that brings us here today as Tyler re-joins the “Four Horsemen” on their third outing and Brian, per usual, goes all out.

Lakeshore Records is set to release the score to Now You See Me: Now You Don’t digitally on November 21. This original score by the award-winning composer mixes vivid, often epic orchestrations with taught synths that accentuate and heighten the tension of the suspense-filled thriller. We’re thrilled to be able to share with you one of the boogielicious tracks from the magnificently jazzy soundtrack. Check it out below…

We’ve spoken to Brian several times over the years (including about the original 2012 film), and this has always been one of his standout efforts. He’s always excited to get back into this series as he notes:

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is the third film I have composed in the Now You See Me movie franchise and has proven to be another joy in my career. Like the previous two, I absolutely loved scoring this film because of the great directors and producers I call friends and the incredibly unique musical language developed in this series. The music combines elements that often are thought to be opposites: symphonic, jazz, and electronic.

There has always been a live band component to these films with me playing drums, vibraphone, piano, and guitars but there is a new feel with the addition of electronic sub-genres like drum and bass and drill for the new members of the team we see on screen. The score at times feels larger than life as if in a live theater, at others emotional and transcendent, and sometimes completely exciting. As someone who dabbled in doing stage magic as a kid growing up that was also completely enamored with music, this film brings together so many elements of what I found to be fascinating for my entire life. Ruben directed a great film, and I am really proud to be part of yet another Now You See Me.”
