“Think happy thoughts“. Calling all you J.M. Barrie fans! While there always seems to be some newly imagined Peter Pan film every couple of years, this interesting iteration has surfaced. Origin stories aren’t new by any means but Sky Movies has been working on one such ride that sounds delightful…I just wish I lived in the UK to see it.
Last week Sky Movies launched their microsite for Neverland (skymovies.com/neverland) which featured the film’s official trailer, behind the scenes footage and a selection of new images from the movie. This Peter Pan prequel promises to reveal where the story we all know and love began, exploring the history of the beloved characters including Hook, The Lost Boys and of course Peter Pan. The 90 second trailer showcases the film’s all-star cast which includes Rhys Ifans, Charlie Rowe, Anna Friel and Bob Hoskins and also provides a glimpse of the film’s state-of-the-art special effects, with a look at just some of the striking, otherworldly environments and creatures of Neverland.
Below you’ll find some previously unreleased imagery from Neverland, including a shot of Peter Pan (Charlie Rowe) and Tinker Bell (voiced by Keira Knightley), power-mad pirate Elizabeth Bonny (Anna Friel) and one of the legendary hand and clock hungry croc. Enjoy!!
To find out more about this original production for Sky Movies HD, visit skymovies.com/neverland. Production value looks decent but unfortunately those of us living stateside will have to wait until it’s released on home video as Sky Movies is a UK channel. Regardless this looks like something I’d like to see eventually and I even like they slight continuity (to Spielberg’s HOOK) with Bob Hoskins as Smee, but I’ll ask you all. Does this look interesting in the least? Or is anyone simply done with Peter Pan??
