Interview…Composer Tom Howe on Unfailing Optimism of Character and Honesty in Music

Tom Howe is an award-winning composer of over 100 films and television projects like Reminders of Him, Wonder WomanExodus: Gods and Kings, The Legend of TarzanA Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, and Dog Man.

From sweeping orchestral scores and imaginative sonic landscapes to iconic main title themes and hit songs, his versatility as a multi-instrumentalist—combined with his expertise in classical, pop, rock, and electronic sound design—has made him one of today’s most in-demand composers.

A gifted songwriter, Howe has collaborated with leading artists and songwriters on original main title themes and songs. He co-wrote the Ted Lasso main title theme with Marcus Mumford and the Shrinking main title theme with Benjamin Gibbard.

He looks like Bryan Adams, talks like Sting, and makes music to get you out of your chair and take off running like Forrest Gump. And leave it to an Englishman to make music that feels more American than apple pie and fireworks. Yet that is is skill. His folksy style and atmosphere is alluring, infectious and filled with the sound of hope.

Whether the story is about coaches, therapists, or talented theater folk, and the common thread between them is the approachable, vulnerable, and honest music. And if you find yourself with a smile on your face after the credits roll, then Tom did his job. Enjoy this episode of The GoSeeTalk Podcast Experience!
