One of the funniest and long-standing creations in the Adult Swim line up is the trio of distasteful fast food roommates otherwise know as the Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Frylock, Meatwad and Master Shake have made it through all sorts of hijinx and calamity over the years, even the recent pandemic. And while the world was facing the end of days, Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro were cooking up a brand new story for our heroes to star in: Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm.
In the hilarious 75-minute adventure, the combo meal trio attempt to save the world from a plant-based extinction level event all the while taking potshots at Elon Musk, Amazon, even the entire state of New Jersey. The humor is meta, raucous, non-stop, and there’s plenty of fun to be had including some real surprises in the form of Run the Jewels (who contributed the theme song for this film), NBA legend Shawn Kemp, and the ceaselessly pesky Mooninites.
Plantasm was released in November on Blu-ray, buuuut it will soon be hitting HBO Max on February 8 and Adult Swim on March 12. Ahead of those streaming dates, we got to chat with the show’s creators all about hotdogs, igloos, plants and prequels. But if that’s not enough, we also get a surprise visit from Meatwad and Markula! Yeah, it was epic!

Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm features everyone’s favorite rascals, the Aqua Teens: the brainy Frylock, the mouthy Master Shake, the loveable Meatwad, and everyone’s favorite perverted neighbor, Carl, as they split up then get back together to fight everyone’s favorite corporate overlord, Amazin, led by everyone’s favorite tech mogul, Neil (voiced by everyone’s favorite Peter Serafinowicz) and his trusty scientist sidekick, Elmer (Paul Walter Hauser, who is everyone’s favorite).
