Psycho Therapy: The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write about a Serial Killer is an energetic, pensive, funny and straight-laced romp into the intermingled worlds of marriage counseling and serial killers. Sounds crazy, right? But it’s just crazy enough to work. And it works wonderfully. In fact, you’re gonna have your hands (well, eyeballs) full trying to keep up with the story.
The overlong title is evident of the wit and humor evident in this quaint feature. It stars John Magaro, Britt Lower and Steve Buscemi and this small cast shines in what can be likened to NY stage work; it’s intimate, engaging and you can’t take your eyes off the players set in this timeless vision of New York.
Written and directed by Tolga Karaçelik – a unique storyteller who shines to make you shine – the film is quite the surprise and a thrill to be part of, even as a spectator. There’s a lot of zaniness juxtaposed against some very sincere and genuine turns from the above-mentioned trio who work in a tandem triangle. When one character/actor moves, the other does the same and it’s very delicate dance. Again, like theater, and it feels so expertly done you’ll want to watch this three times to see the nuances in the deliveries of each cast member.
It’s captivating, original and, well, fun as was our talk with Tolga! One of the best parts of this interview was discussing how much joy he had in in working with professionals to make dreams come true – no matter how silly or outlandish the idea. So enjoy this episode of The GoSeeTalk Podcast Experience as we dive into llamas, bathrooms, cinematography, and chloroform. Told you it was crazy, so be sure to check this out asap!
