They say you can never go back, and most times that’s true. Buuut not when it comes to music. This year, the world-renowned Dallas Symphony Orchestra is celebrating its 125th anniversary. This season, they are really pulling out the stops and having some fun. As we approach the holidays, what better way to put a little pep in your step than revisiting the most popular music that the DSO’s Pops fans have enjoyed over the years.
We are thrilled to welcome back former Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman, who served the DSO in that role for 14 years. He’ll dig into the vast treasure trove of beloved pops hits — from the movies to Broadway, from jazz to seasonal celebrations — to pick the ones you’re sure to love. Join them for this stroll down memory lane at the Pops!

Highlights include “Hooray For Hollywood” from Hollywood Hotel, selections from The Phantom of the Opera, Star Trek (Television Theme), Suite from The Magnificent Seven, Flying Theme from E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, “Seventy-Six Trombones” from The Music Man, and plenty more!
Over the years, we’ve had several fun chats with Richard, and he truly is one of the most interesting people we’ve ever met. With more than 50 years in the music business (in all kinds of roles), there’s not a lot he doesn’t know or someone he hasn’t worked with.
We sat with him to talk about what guests of the Meyerson can expect for the upcoming performances. And when it comes to Pops, the set list is always as varied as it is entertaining. Enjoy this chat with Richard as we talk about the fun to be had this weekend at the DSO. Hope to see you there!!
