Interview…Thomas Jane on Wide Open Spaces Acting in ‘Frontier Crucible’

When it comes to film, “character actors” and “leading men” are usually two very distinct and disparate roles. It is only the scant few thespians who can consistently work in both worlds and dance between them seamlessly. To that end, you might call Thomas Jane unique or, better, a unicorn. Actually, he’s so good at diving into a character that when he’s on, it’s like watching a unicorn run through a field of four-leaf clovers heading for a pot of gold under a rainbow.

Part of what adds to TJ’s charisma and career longevity is that he has plenty of interests outside of acting. One of them is comics and the arts in general. So while he’s at home in front of the camera, he’s also shown proficiency and passion behind it. He’s a director (Dark Country), a comic book writer and the co-owner of Raw Studios/Raw Entertainment. And as far as comics go, he knew Dave Stevens quite well. As Thomas tells us on the show, Dave changed his life. Further, Stevens’ last published work was on Tom’s comic book, Bad Planet.

On the show today, we got to talk about the dust and pulp in Frontier Crucible as well as Jane’s outlook on work in a much broader sense. Now as far as grit, determination and gravitas (and three Stephen King adaptations), there are a rare few that can embody all that charm with a smile and a cigar. See, told ya Thomas was a rare breed. Enjoy this episode of The GoSeeTalk Podcast Experience!

A desperately needed wagon full of medical supplies falls victim to an Apache attack. The only man who can guide it through to its destination is Merrick Beckford, but in order to get there, he’ll need to enlist the help of a trio of dangerous outlaws hell-bent on survival. When they accidentally kill an Apache scout, all bets are off, and survival is the name of the game in director Travis Mills’s western thriller.

Directed by Travis Mills, this film (based on the novel by Harry Whittington) is in theaters and on digital on December 5, 2025. It is also available for pre-order at the following link: https://tv.apple.com/us/movie/frontier-crucible/umc.cmc.6os8vyl9y5b0u1l3dshy111l9
