Long time Formula 1 enthusiast and Golden Globe nominated actor, Michael Fassbender, has signed on to narrate Exclusive Media’s Spitfire Pictures’ new documentary film “1”, it was announced today by the film’s producer and Exclusive Media co-chairman Nigel Sinclair and fellow producer Michael Shevloff together with director Paul Crowder. “1” is an action documentary that brings the glamour, speed, danger, and excitement of Formula One Grand Prix racing to the big screen.
“We are honored that Michael has agreed to lend his voice to our film. He is one of the most talented actors in the world today as well as being a Formula 1 fan. His charismatic and daring approach to acting lends itself perfectly to our story about a generation of risk takers in a glamorous and dangerous sport. We couldn’t be more excited,” said Sinclair and Shevloff.
“Michael Fassbender is a brilliant and fearless actor who will bring all the passion and excitement of our action documentary to life. There is truly no better voice to tell this story,” said Crowder.
Renowned documentary filmmaker Paul Crowder (ESPN Films’ Once In A Lifetime) directs “1” and the film will be writtenby Mark Monroe, Crowder’s long time creative partner, who wrote the Oscar winning documentary The Cove and The Tillman Story.
Fassbender, the German-Irish actor and star of Inglourious Basterds, X-Men: First Class and Prometheus, won the Best Actor Award at the Venice Film Festival and was nominated for a Golden Globe and BAFTA Award for his role in Shame. He recently completed shooting Terrence Malick’s latest and untitled film with Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Natalie Portman and will shortly begin production on Jane Got A Gun also starring Natalie Portman and X-Men: Days of the Future Past.
The high octane film includes never-before-seen archive footage, a rich soundtrack and the most impressive list of Formula 1 interviewees ever assembled, including 12 world champions past and present. Their names include: Sir Jackie Stewart, Mario Andretti, Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel, Emerson Fittipaldi, Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill. Other notable interviewees are F1 Chief, Bernie Ecclestone, Max Mosley, Formula 1 team doctor Professor Sid Watkins, Jacky Ickx, Eddie Jordan and Martin Brundle.
SXSW Film Festival and The Circuit of The Americas (the Austin Grand Prix racing track) have teamed up with producers to present “1” at a Special Presentation event on today November 15th, the first night of the 2012 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX weekend, at the Paramount Theatre in the center of Austin.
