If you’re a fan of soundtracks and film scores, the team at Mondo has you covered. They take great pride in crafting physical media, they produce vinyl with audiophiles in mind, and they also care about the packaging. Like a lot! In fact, their slipcases have just as much detail as their amazing posters. Yet the cool thing about their albums is that the team gets to do way more than silk screen their work on foil variants.
Albums give these artists/creatives a smaller yet more complex canvas than a poster and the team tries their darnedest to use every square inch (inside and out) to tell their story. The slip cases are truly works of art, and they’ve nearly outdone themselves with Theodore Shapiro‘s score to Severance. The Apple TV+ show is very heady, and Mondo have dialed into the show’s plot to make this release feel as if were plucked right from the screen.
The score of that world is being brought to us in TWO versions. Praise Kier, these are gorgeous! You’ll certainly want to take at least one home. The video below is a look at the “INNIE” version, which is chock-full goodies inspired by the corporate world of Lumon Industries. There are also some reproductions of memorable elements from the show.
Mondo has again raised the bar on what can be done when they put their mind to it. Prior to this release, the Austin-based outfit has released some head turning albums that sport exceptional packaging but also push the boundaries of the medium to make something truly unique. This echoes the thought put into one of their earliest projects with Looper. From there, they nearly got into diorama territory with Anomalisa. Then there’s two other more recent releases of The Wizard of Oz and The Queen’s Gambit.
Anyway, we don’t want a trip to the break room (or do we??) so we’ll wrap this up. Check out this fun and lively trip into the album, Macrodata Refinement and some possibly scary numbers.

With phenomenal world-building, writing, directing, set design, acting and music Severance is one of our standout shows of the year. And of course, Theodore Shapiro’s score for SEVERANCE is nothing short of jaw-dropping. At first, it may seem simple and minimal, but it reveals itself to be complex, rich and detailed on repeated listens. Its haunting and otherworldly melodies weave in and out of time and space. A beguiling listen from start to end.
