Boy now this takes me back; I remember last time we got our first look at the “new” Superman. Today we get a look at the young Henry Cavill wearing Kal-El‘s iconic suit but I have to say I’m a little taken aback. Why’s that you ask? Well it’s the hair. Now while I really shouldn’t knit-pick this early in the game, I can’t help myself…all I can focus on is the hair. Am I the only one?? Well, if you haven’t seen it yet, have a look for yourself after the jump…

Despite my cynicism it looks pretty impressive even if Cavill’s square chin makes me think he’d be better off playing Bizarro. Although this is just the very very first look and we’re bound to get tons more it’s just another reason to put faith in the Snyder Nolan camp. But while I’m not the biggest or most knowledgeable Supes fan, I’ll put it to you. How does this image grab you all? What do you think of the carbon-fiber looking suit??
After some recent and disappointing scheduling news, Warner Bros is still full steam ahead to bring Man of Steel to theaters (probably everywhere) on June 14, 2013.

He looks pissed. I like it. Routh never really convinced me he could be badass. Reeve was just a natural and can never be replaced…..but I’m hoping for good stuff from Snyder.

Amen Markus! Yes, Henry is believable bad-ass, as displayed in those Immortals trailers. In a way I’m glad that movie is coming out this year so people will be more familiar with what the actor can do.

Interesting dark look. Notwithstanding Reeve’s near perfect casting – almost anything is an improvement over the special effects-deficient Superman films of the 70s & 80s.

@Markus…Yeah, Sucker Punch aside I’m a Snyder-holic. Pumped for the movie that’s for sure but waiting til 2013 is depressing.
@Ruth…Ya know, maybe it’s just me but I just don’t care about The Immortals. Maybe positive review’ll change my mind but it looks too much like a theatrical performance.
@Klaus…Yeah, dark is the flavor of a comic films these days but I think we need to sully a superhero’s image now and then to make them more relateable right?
