The follow-up behemoth to Sly Stallone’s machismo opus The Expendables is currently filming and today the first official theatrical poster has been released. Earlier this week the teaser trailer dropped and while short, it did what a trailer does best; pique your interest. There’s a good number of people who loved the first film and think it was everything they ever wanted in an all-out actioner. I for one was a bit disappointed although I probably blame myself for over-hyping it to unhealthy proportions. That said, the fire power and knuckle-dusting strength being hinted at makes me eager to give this second go round my full attention. Also I’m pretty stoked about the fact we’ll be getting more Willis and Schwarzenegger this time around.

Stallone is bringing back Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Coture and Jet Li. If that’s not enough, he’s added Liam Hemsworth, Scott Adkins, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme and given larger parts to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. Wow is right!
Lionsgate and Millennium have primed The Expendables 2 to explode on screen next Summer on August 17th, 2012. I’m willing to give Barney and co a second at bat and am curious to see how Simon West handles all this mayhem. How about you all? Anyone excited for The Expendables 2??
