PREMISE: Left moderately bitter, and ultimately alone, after his wife’s passing, Carl Fredricksen is now pressured to sell his house in the face of urban development, but he’s not moving one inch. After a slight altercation with the contractors waiting outside his door, he’s being forced out of his home and into an assisted living facility for the elderly. Just before he’s set to be taken away, he unleashes thousands of balloons (that he filled in the middle of the night) tied to his house and is now going to lift the house and take it with him to the one destination he and his late wife never got to go to. …

G-S-T Review…Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
In a country known to be fairly late on getting the new movies, Japan has scored a coup this time around with being the first country to show the new Transformers movie. Scheduled for June 20th, they even decided to move that up a day to the 19th. And you bet I was there to be one of the first in the world to see it. PREMISE: In the highly-anticipated sequel, Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) again joins with the Autobots against their sworn enemies, the Decepticons. Decepticon forces return to Earth on a mission to take Sam Witwicky prisoner, after the young hero learns the truth about the ancient origins…

Sweet Trailer…’Whiteout’
Well summer is almost here and with Texas being humid as usual, here’s a little visual relief from the heat… [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TEk0GI5VDM] Whiteout is WB’s newest thriller starring Kate Beckinsale (oh, what a hottie). From First Showing.com we get the following: Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale) is a lone U.S. Marshal assigned to Antarctica whose investigation of the continent’s first murder draws her into a shocking mystery. Now, with only three days until winter, Carrie must solve the crime before Antarctica is plunged into darkness and she is stranded with the killer. Whiteout is directed by ex-music video director Dominic Sena, of Gone in Sixty Seconds and Swordfish previously. The screenplay was…

And They Lived Happily Ever After…Didn't They??
Hello World, Marc Here: First off, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy Friday and hope their week went well…if not well, cheer up, it’s almost over. That said I’m sure we’ve all seen at least one Disney animated move about princesses, princes, witches and the like. If so, you know that right before the credits role (with or without a musical number) they all live ‘Happily Ever After”… Well if you’ve had a rough week then take solace in these clever photos of those same princesses/characters in everyday life living a not so storybook ending. As the artist, featured on JPGmag.com, puts it: These works place Fairy Tale characters…

G-S-T Review…The Hangover
This movie has been one that G-C-T (and most everyone I know actually) have been waiting for since the day the teaser came out. Coming from Todd Phillips (Old School, Road Trip) you could just tell that it was going to be insanely funny, with a little dumb humor, but an all out laugh-a-thon none the less. I went with two of my good friends and funny enough, we all had just got back from one of their bachelor parties in Vegas so this felt more like a flashback than a movie. Simply put, The Hangover was completely hilarious and had me crying it was so funny. So without giving…

Check this out…'Han Solo P.I.'
Just the thing to give everyone a nostalgic driven smile for Friday, I happily refer you to this clever little gem: Han Solo P.I. It’s a “spot-on” mash up of the Magnum P.I. theme/opening sequence spliced with perfect scenes of the Original Star Wars Trilogy to replicate that classic intro. So take a look and enjoy…oh, and for those of you too young to enjoy Mr. Mustache himself (aka Tom Selleck) in his glory days, there is also a split scene comparison, below the first, showing just how well they did. Pretty good huh? How fitting (albiet a little “opening the wound” if you ask me) since Harrison Ford (replacing…

Sweet Trailer…'[REC]2′ – Teaser
Just file this under “A” for “awesome” and enjoy an early weekend. After seeing this over-the-top teaser for the sequel to the cult smash [REC], please feel free to call in sick tomorrow and start a fan club to await the day this film is released in the US. OK, that may be a bit much but this trailer looks AMAZING!! [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bUx_-p_dN4] I like that this is, what looks like, a direct continuation of events in [REC], where a response team enters the same building and begins shooting up the inhabitants. Funny enough, I actually just saw Quarantine, the American remake of [REC], Tuesday night and I loved it, so…

Sweet Trailer…’Toy Story 3′ Teaser
Thinking back on the achievements of Pixar, they really are the best in the business. Having all but defined what a CGI film should be, they continue to improve and ultimately amaze, delight and just plain win over audiences. Since everyone knows that Toy Story was really their big break, I’m glad that they have explored so many other stories and characters instead of trying to ride out, what could have been, a “one trick pony”. The efforts of John Lasseter and more recently Brad Bird have created, in my opinion, “perfect films” in terms of plot, characters and content. Also they have been able to create the type of…

Sweet Trailer…'The Goods'
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmgpuscHjDE] This movie looks sort of funny and I think it just might have the right amount of wit, independent charm and dumb humor to work. Although in my viewing experience, films with “redband” trailers just don’t turn out to be very good. It seems like a studio only puts out a ”redband” trailer when they’re not sure the movie is going to succeed, and they can’t promote it well enough with just an “All Audiences” trailer. The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard is directed by Neal Brennan, who is making his directorial debut. His notoriety includes some episodes of “Chappelle’s Show” and the TV movie Totally Awesome previously. This film’s…

G-S-T Review…Angels & Demons
For the past few months I written about Angels & Demons, but the content of my posts were intended to be more about my expectations rather than say casting news or production development. Before stepping into the theater, I really wanted this film to work in two ways. The first was my hope that this would be a more compelling film adaptation than the DaVinci Code. The second was if there would be a little more emotion to Tom Hanks’ “Langdon” (who was criticized last time for being lifeless and miscast). But, having read both books, I found this the more complex and action packed story of the two, so stepping into…
