Second Wave of Film Programming Announced for Fantastic Fest 2013

FF2013 HeaderFantastic Fest is one of the most fun film festivals you will ever attend. Full stop. Sure it’s not as high profile or sophisticated as say Cannes or Sundance but it’s something extra special. If you like zombies, crazy robot violence, irreverent foreign films, serial killing aliens or absurd animation then you are most certainly a fan of genre films and Fantastic Fest is calling your name. If you’ve been there, you know what to expect. If not, read through of our coverage and experiences from last year,  then get off your ass, head down to Austin, Texas next month (September 19-26 at the Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline) and prepare to have your world rocked.

“Every year we scour the globe for the freshest and craziest genre films,” says Fantastic Fest founder and creative director Tim League. “This first incredible selection of films gives a small taste of the fun, but I can assure you there are lots of surprises yet to come. 2013 should be remembered a vintage year for Fantastic Fest.”

What can you expect to see this year?? Well for starters Fantastic Fest is tying on the black belt for the red carpet premiere of Keanu Reeves’ MAN OF TAI CHI as well as the debut of Robert Rodriguez’s MACHETE KILLS which will be the opening night film. Aside from that there’s already been a slew of films announced the the first wave of programming and today we get a whole lot more titles. It all looks and sounds splatter-tastic and insanerific (yes, we made those terms up). So scan down the list below (head to the FantasticFest website for more info), fill up your dance card with a bunch of these weird, absurd, macabre and utterly AWESOME films and enjoy the madness happening in Austin this Fall…
