If Tim Burton’s take on Planet of the Apes, didn’t do anything for you, then maybe this prequel (of sorts) from Rupert Wyatt may do the trick. Starring James Franco, Brian Cox, Andy Serkis this origin story set in present day San Francisco, tells the tale of man’s experiments with genetic engineering leads to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. Worth a look if you like the series or are a big fan of convincing mo-cap…
I hope that this (like Ridley Scott’s Prometheus looks to do) will serve to compliment the first film, Planet of the Apes with a fitting bookend. If not then it will do nothing but disservice the franchise. Eh I’m not a big fan of the series but I do like the first film very very much. So, here’s hoping it lives up to the legacy…and with the arrival of this teaser, Rise of the Planet of the Apes will be here probably before we know it on August 5th this summer.
Whaddya think sci-fi fans? Does this look good? Anyone excited/giddy about Andy Serkis playing a mini-King Kong? Anyone think this looks like a redo of a zombie/infection outbreak film done with monkeys??

It’s only a teaser but I’m not all that excited about the movie just yet. The title is laughably terrible too.

Sweet teaser indeed! Looks like something I will see (if my country’s problem finally solve out)

I’m really surprised James Franco decided to be in a film like this. He usually does more arthouse type flicks. Guess he has Spiderman summer blockbuster fever again.

@Castor…Yeah it’s about as laughable as something like “The Time Before There Was Once Upon A Time in the West”:P
@Nov…This looks like a rental for me although it does seem better than I was expecting. Still it’s only a teaser.
@Cello…After ‘Your Highness’ I think he wants something a little more respectable. Then again he’s know never to take himself too seriously.

I wanna see some grown ups! Most of them thar actors look like young whipper snappers.
~Long live the 1969 original!

Yeah I’m partial to the original and while I think this looks decent right now I still have my doubts. Guess we’ll see soon enough right? Welcome to G-S-T!
