As a movie related website, we’ve been on the web since early 2009. But we never would have thought that we would ever report on a sequel to the 1982 classic, Blade Runner. Now while we’ve never been as taken by Sir Ridley Scott’s seminal masterpiece as the rest of the world has, over time, I’ve personally come to appreciate its importance and the popularity behind it. So while we are many months out from its release, behold, the first trailer, err, “announcement” for Blade Runner 2049. It’s mostly filled with sandy hues and a lot of text, but it still looks so very noir.
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
Blade Runner 2049 is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Arrival) and the film stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Mackenzie Davis, Jared Leto, Dave Bautista, Carla Juri, Barkhad Abdi, and Robin Wright. Expect this long awaited return to the Blade Runner universe to be released on October 6, 2017.
