After months (years, really) of waiting, Pixar Studios is finally ready to share the crazy idea from the mind of Pete Docter. Yes, that opening statement is a bit inside, but that’s the whole point! His latest film is called Inside Out and will take us to the most extraordinary location of all — inside the mind. It deals with the individual emotions of a young girl and stars Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader, Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith as well as the one and only Lewis Black who, of course, is playing Anger. Surprise, surprise.
Not only is this the long-awaited follow up feature from the Oscar-winning Docter, but Inside Out will also feature the upcoming Pixar short ‘LAVA’. Can’t wait!!
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.
Inside Out is written and directed by Pete Docter. Disney and Pixar have slated Inside Out for release next year on June 19th, 2015.
