From IFC Midnight comes a psychological thriller about three co-workers who get trapped in an ATM booth. Not that they’re locked in (not at first), they just can’t leave because there’s a menacing man outside. Dun, dun, dun. No, really, it does look better than you’d expect. Name any film based primarily in one location (Frozen, Wrecked, P2, Phone booth, even Castaway) and they work because they all play on that fear of isolation and, among other things, impending death. ATM takes that formula and adds in a dash of silent stalker just for fun. Hey, he does a good job of channeling Michael Meyers. Have a look…
Not bad right? Directed by David Brooks, making his feature directorial debut, ATM stars Alice Eve, Josh Peck and Brian Geraghty as the three helpless victims. For those of you who liked Buried, it might please you to know that Chris Sparling wrote this as well as the screenplay to Buried. Either he likes these type of near-inescapable situations or he’s just writing about what he knows. Eh, could be some cheezy popcorn fun and worth a few good scares.
No word yet on an official release date but what do you think? Anyone want to take a chance on ATM?
