Based on true events, and a GQ article, Will Smith headlines Columbia Pictures’ Concussion. Beyond being a captivating David vs. Goliath story, Peter Landesman’s film also sports an impressive cast. Yet to look at the release calendar, it doesn’t really matter how big a star you have in your film (Will Smith, Sam Jackson, Kurt Russell, etc.), anything opening at the tail end of December is going to face serious competition from J.J. Abrams’ little sci-fi piece about a galaxy far, far away. Anyway, enjoy the first trailer for Concussion.
Will Smith stars in Concussion, a dramatic thriller based on the incredible true story of American immigrant Dr. Bennet Omalu, the brilliant forensic neuropathologist who made the first discovery of CTE, a football-related brain trauma, in a pro player and fought for the truth to be known. Omalu’s emotional quest puts him at dangerous odds with one of the most powerful institutions in the world.
Concussion also stars Alec Baldwin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Arliss Howard, Paul Reiser, Luke Wilson, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, even David Morse and Albert Brooks. Written and directed by Peter Landesman, Columbia Pictures and Scott Free Productions have slated Concussion for release this Winter on December 25, 2015.
