Like all great trailers, this 4 minute preview of Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man has been teased, hyped and like the two that came before it, TOTALLY delivers. Endless love for Raimi and Maguire aside, this looks fantastic. As you might suspect, 4 minutes will show more than you probably wanted to see but it is worth it. Enjoy this “super preview” and the two latest theatrical posters below…
Even though this is an origin story (that some still call unnecessary) Webb’s Spider-Man will do one better by going with some deeper back-story to tell the “untold story” of Peter Parker. Specifically we’ll learn how he came to be raised by his Aunt May (Sally Fields) and Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen). Taking ques from the Ultimate Spider-Man comic series, we’ll again see Oscorp and the company’s effects on Peter Parker/Spider-Man’s future. That should make some Raimi fans happy right?
Sony/Columbia has The Amazing Spider-Man set to swing into theaters (in 3D!) this Summer on July 3rd, 2012. What say you naysayers? Anyone super thrilled about The Amazing Spider-Man??

I will say that Garfield really seems like he’s nailed the part, so that’s exciting. The footage doesn’t do a ton for me, though; Spidey seems really keen on being a superhero exhibitionist, taking his mask off at every opportunity. That might be okay– it plays out well in the moment with the flaming car and the trapped child– but it seems a bit weird.
To the rest, it’s not all that different than what we’ve seen in trailers. I’m holding judgment until I see the full movie of course, but I don’t get a great feeling from this. (Then again, I didn’t get a good feeling from The Avengers either.)
