Today we get the chance to see the trailer for the bloody, hilarious, absurd and no holds barred follow up to Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass. Universal’s Kick-Ass 2 picks up not long after the events this first film…and it’s everything you’d expect in a comic book sequel. We get more heroes (including Colonel Stars and Stripes, who is played by chameleon Jim Carrey), more action and more of everything that comes with it, especially the tone and fun that was had in the 2012 film. Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl will need all the help they can get, because a foe from the first film, Red Mist, is back with an even badder persona, “The Mother F—er,” to avenge the death of his father. But this time, he’s going to have the help of a brand-new team of super villains.Picking up where things left off, Kick Ass, played again by Aaron Taylor-Johnson has teamed up with Hit Girl, again Chloe Moretz, and are growing their team with the likes of Jim Carrey, too. Then there’s Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who takes on the identity of Mother Fucker, and is building his army of super-villains.
Kick-Ass 2 is directed by Jeff Wadlow and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson returning as the titular hero. He’s joined by Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and newcomers Jim Carrey, Donalid Faison, John Leguizamo, Morris Chestnut and more. Universal will bring the kick-ass action sequel to theaters this Summer on August 16th, 2013.
