No not Tekken 2, but containing equal amounts of ass-whooping, this is Taken 2, the sequel to Pierre Morel’s surprise/smash 2008 hit. Liam Neeson is back and this time even more lethal and intense than before. Since rescuing his daughter in the first film it looks as if he’s also managed to wrangle his x-wife away from her new super-rich husband. I guess that’s another of his very particular set of skills; skills [he’s] have acquired over a very long career. Enough talk, behold the full domestic trailer for Taken 2.
While the first film ended in such a way you’d think it was impossible to continue the story, like we’re about to see in the next Bourne film, things in the spy world are never over and actions have equal if not greater reactions. So it goes that the relatives of the villains in the first film have Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) and his wife and daughter (Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace) in their sights. Annnd, as you’d expect in a proper Hollywood sequel, the events are pretty much the same as the first only bigger, louder and more incendiary. But who are we kidding? We’re so stoked for this!
Directed by Oliver Megaton (not Megatron) and starring Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace, Taken 2 is slated to hit theaters this Fall on October 5th, 2012.
