After suffering months of speculation, less than comforting set shots (with all actors donning CG tracking outfits), a very questionable casting choice and finally a director who draws more criticism than praise, die-hard Turtle fans finally have our first look at the world of the re-imagined Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Oh, did we mention that this is produced by Michael Bay? Anyway have a look at the fearless foursome of subterranean martial artists known simply as TMNT. Tough to believe they’ve been around for more than 25 years, huh? Enjoy the trailer below…
The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O’Neil and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.
As pretty fervent Turtles fans we at GST don’t really have the warm fuzzies right now. But good or bad, it is just a teaser after all. At the very least we’re just glad Raph, Leo, Don and Mikey aren’t aliens as originally planned. Whew, dodged a bullet there. This TMNT reboot is directed by Jonathan Liebesman and stars Will Arnett, William Fichtner and Megan Fox as April…yeah that’s still a head-scratcher. Good news is that the totally tubular Brian Tyler is doing the score so that’s one thing to look froward to. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is set for release this Summer on August 8th, 2014. Cowabunga?
