Well here’s a fine way to end the week. What is likely the last comic book trailer we’ll get this year, this 2 minute and 33 second teaser is the equivalent of Bryan Singer dropping the mic on 2015. The X-Men films have gotten better since Matthew Vaughn’s First Class and Singer’s return to Marvel with Days of Future Past. So, rounding out this prequelogy (pretty sure that’s not really a thing, but it sounds neat) is the impressive looking X-Men: Apocalypse. Due out next May, 2016 is going to be a comic book smack down of epic proportions, both on-screen and at the box office. Enjoy this first trailer…

The Issue With X-Men: Days of Future Past
I got goosebumps at the end of The Wolverine just like most X-Men fans. To see some of the cast reunited is something special in Hollywood. But reality isn’t always kind. The reason the cast of the original X-Men trilogy was back was to simply make another film. Sure, every now and then we get something grand. But in this case, we get a hurried script that benefits from the building of Wolverine over five of the six X-Men films, the past versions of the X-Men characters complete with a stellar cast, and the opportunity to have the originals bring in their own fandom. It’s a trifecta that surely will…

Sweet Trailer…'X-Men: Days of Future Past'
While some weren’t too fond of Matthew Vaughn’s entry to the X-Men franchise (don’t know how that’s possible, we happened to LOVE it) it seems Fox though they could do better. So how might that be achieved? Well one idea would be to bring in some big guns and so Fox was able to coax Bryan Singer back for another adventure with his X-babies. The trailer just dropped for the sequel to 2011’s X-Men: First Class and as our header states it is SWEET! If this isn’t a sure fire way to kick off the (early) Summer season next year then I don’t know what will. For now, enjoy!…then later mark your…

G-S-T Review…Jack The Giant Slayer
There’s so much that’s so wrong with Jack the Giant Slayer that it’s difficult to know where to begin. Once upon a time, Bryan Singer actually made a pair of good movies in the 90s before churning out mediocre superhero movies and historical thrillers in the aughts. Somewhere in that timeline he also fell in with Peter Jackson, but you don’t need to pay attention to history to figure that one out; you just need to watch Jack the Giant Slayer, although I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe the worst crime here, or at least the hardest to fathom, is that somebody in a boardroom actually thought that the concept of a fantasy reinterpretation…

“The CineMagic 8-Ball” – In Theaters 03/01/13
When so many movies are released each week and trailers often seem better than the movie itself, what should one do? In this precarious situation, we consult the The CineMagic 8-Ball (TM) to help us see through the nebulous marketing haze. Doing so just might save us all a disheartening trip to the cinema and spare us the shelling out for $7 popcorn and ridiculous concession stand prices. See what the 8-Ball says about this week’s releases… ——————————————————————————————————————————————- 21 & OVER Straight-A college student Jeff Chang has always done what he was supposed to do. 'Days of Future Past' Cast to Include Paquin, Page, and Ashmore
Unlike many, I didn’t find myself falling head over heels for X-Men: First Class; it’s decent, but I can’t praise a movie wholesale for being a few rungs higher on the ladder than X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Taking my sustained indifference toward the series into account, I may be utterly the wrong person to report on any news coming from the set of the latest picture in the X-franchise, X-Men: Days of Future Past. Except that Bryan Singer has piqued my interest in the project courtesy of his Twitter-originating casting announcement this past Saturday. It’s already been revealed that the film will see Ian McKellen and…

Bryan Singer Reveals Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart Will Return For 'Days of Future Past'
Bryan Singer thrilled the film (and comic) world when it was announced that he would step up for the next X-Men film after Matthew Vaughn bowed out. All things considered, X-Men: First Class was an amazing success and Vaugn would have probably done just a good a job with his second at bat. But that was then and now that Singer is back he’s going to try on even bigger pants than he started with more than a decade ago. As the premise for the latest X-Men film is quite a departure from the grounded narrative with social commentary that Singer started the series with, the themes are still familiar and relevant.…
