The last of our entries in the James Bond January series, we’re ending with perhaps my second favorite Bond film. Here we find a young James finding his spy legs as the ink on his newly printed 007 business cards is still drying. In what is essentially an “origin story” (big trend in American cinema this past decade), a cocky Bond struggles on his first real mission to find the balance between the personal gains and his love of country. Moreover, he begins to sort out whether or not to heed his own moral compass or to carry out orders as MI6 would have him do. So, as this is our…

Sweet (Teaser) Trailer…’Cowboys & Aliens’
Oh man I don’t know how much more trailer awesomeness I can take in one week. Who am I kidding this is AWESOME!! On Monday we had the Cowboys & Aliens teaser poster and now we have the teaser trailer. What a week film fans, what a week! Check out Daniel Craig in the awesome trailer from Yahoo! Movies below: In Silver City, Arizona, Apache Indians and Western settlers must lay their differences aside when an alien spaceship crash lands in their city. Wow, that was just what a trailer should be; elusive and mysterious. This adaptation, of a graphic novel of the same name, is directed by Jon Favreau…

Random Film Thought of the Day…07.29.10
News hit recently of Daniel Craig being cast for the remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Part of me said, “hell yes!“, while another part of me was lost for words. At first I thought this was a good move and would be glad to see Craig in something new and different since the Bond series is on perpetual hold. But the more I think about this I’m not wild about it. I don’t see the point of casting someone so high profile when their character is far from the main focus of the film. While I admit I have only seen the first film, I honestly don’t know…

G-S-T Quick 5 – Favorite Movie Monologues
One of my favorite elements in a film is a succesful (and memorable) monologue. When an actor can deliver a series of lines and carry the scene on the talent of that speech, it brings a certain weight to the movie. Many times in movies a monologue can consist of throw away lines or be a cheesy sequence all together, but I have assembled some of my favorites that are truly great below because they really are standout performances. They are impressive, dramatic and in a few cases stand the test of time but yet they all exist on a level that showcases the actor’s true talents and is an example of how…

What is Sam Mendes' role in the next "Bond" film??
There are times that movie news makes me smile and today is one of them. FirstShowing.net is reporting that Sam Mendes, the man behind American Beauty and Road to Perdition (which I just love), just might helm the upcoming Bond 23. For more on this, here’s an excerpt from FS.net: MGM first announced (via Heat Vision) that Oscar winning British filmmaker Sam Mendes, of American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jarhead, Revolutionary Road, and Away We Go, has been hired to direct the upcoming 23rd James Bond movie. Despite recent concerns that the production was temporarily on hold, MGM is on track to release Bond 23 in late 2011. Bond regulars Neal Purvis and Robert Wade…

G-S-T Quick 5 – Hollywood’s finest working (foreign) actors
I’ve often said that some of the best American actors aren’t even from America. Without much more reasoning, other than I immensely like these actors and the varied parts the play, I present G-S-T’s latest Quick 5 list. Let me clarify, right off the bat, that this list is not some pretentious or whimsical list touting praise for the likes of near acting gods such as Sir Anthony Hopkins, Sir Ben Kingsley, Gary Oldman, Bill Nighy etc. What I am attempting to do here is celebrate great actors (which I love) who may one day reach the heights and milestones those legendary actors have already garnered. So in no particular…

Even great actors get their feathers ruffled…
Hello World, Marc Here: It’s long been said that Hugh Jackman is the nicest and classiest man in show business right now. And when you think of how well he did with the recent Oscars, he is easily a cut above other talented actors like Russell Crowe and Christian Bale who have a reputation for their tempers. Well it seems that really no one person is immune to the rampant stupidity that abounds in this world. In the video below you’ll see Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig acting in a play when they are interrupted by a phone as it goes off in the first row. This proves to be…
