    Off the Shelf…’Tomorrowland’

Brad Bird has an affinity for telling heartfelt stories and infusing them with incredible amounts of whimsy and delight, charm and inventiveness. The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, and now Tomorrowland, Bird is proficient in spinning yarns that are as nostalgia-fueled as they are forward-thinking. Tomorrowland presents itself as a duality, which is to say Bird shows us the best we as a society might hope for in a distant future, but also offers a cautionary tale about not taking action while we have the chance. Now it’s not doom and gloom. In fact, it’s fun and fanciful and more so because of the characters, not just the inventions. We are thrown…

Hugh Laurie Cast In MGM/Sony Remake of 'RoboCop'

TV’s one and only “shock Doc” Hugh Laurie has been officially cast in  and Jose Padilha’s remake of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 classic RoboCop. Laurie, 53, now free from the enormously successful “House M.D.”, will be playing the villain/super-rich CEO of  Omni Corp. For those who missed out on the paragon of 80’s awesomeness that is Robocop (so awesome in fact that it’s in the Criterion Collection) O.C.P. is the company responsible for the inception of the program that turns Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) into RoboCop. No stranger to controversy and having people just hate him (well it’s a love/hate relationship) Laurie will be upping the ante to bring some true villainy to his role. Ronny Cox was Verhoeven’s go…

    G-S-T Review…Arthur Christmas

Christmas gets here earlier and earlier each year to the point that it’s finding a foothold on the calendar just days after Halloween and causes little children to ask “mommy, did we skip a holiday?“. This time however you won’t mind Christmas jumping the gun. Sony Pictures Animation and Aardman bring us a funny holiday film that is beyond delightful and simply gorgeous. I hate to throw myself into a review, but this time I just cannot resist; I whole heartily loved this movie!! It’s the kind of film that hits on all cylinders, appeals to all age groups and demographics and is a story that is not just fun but one worth…

Hugh Laurie and ‘House M.D.’ are the People’s Choice!!

Since I refused to watch the People’s Choice Awards, I happily came running in like a little kid when my fiance yelled, “House is up for an award!”.  I’ve  said it before, I love House, can’t get enough House, refuse to admit Season 4 of House actually happened, but I love love love love love House.  Anyway, now that I got that out of my system, I’d like to let you all know (if you didn’t watch last night) that Hugh Laurie won the People’s Choice Award for “Favorite TV Drama Actor”  Wow!!! If you want to see the build up and the other nominees (umm, nope), watch this clip from…
