    Sweet Trailer…Darren Aronofsky's 'Noah'

How does Russell Crowe top playing Maximus, Robin Hood and even the Father of the Man of Steel? Well there’s really only one way. He’s gotta go back, way back, like old testament. After lots of anticipation and some news of production woes (what HUGE feature doesn’t have them?) we’re finally getting to see the epic vision for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah starring Crowe as the Biblical hero. This is supposed to be a mammoth production, without question the biggest film Aronofsky has ever tackled, and filled with painstakingly rendered CGI animals. A lot of what we’re seeing is quick cuts, basically an extended teaser, but it looks sensational. Enjoy! In Aronofsky’s…

    G-S-T Review…Cosmopolis

In a day and age where comic book flicks are hitting the big screen every summer and reboot films are a dime a dozen, it’s nice to see a different type of film.  Cosmopolis certainly qualifies as different and then some.  Will this movie become a mainstream hit…no.  Will people go see the movie just because Robert Pattinson is in it…yes.  Regardless of the box office numbers this film achieves, it truly is unique, albeit strange and quirky.  Cosmopolis is based upon Don DeLillo’s novel of the same name, marking his thirteenth career novel; published in 2003.  It was adapted for the screen by David Cronenberg and directed by David Cronenberg.  If…

    Sweet (Red Band) Teaser…'Cosmopolis'

David Cronenberg  is undoubtedly a visionary…even if most people don’t get or understand his vision. Still, just to make it through any number of his films, like Naked Lunch or Videodrome for instance, deserves a pat on the back. His last film A Dangerous Method didn’t seem all too Cronenbergish but don’t worry dear fans, he still has weird on the brain. Case in point. The upcoming film Cosmoplolis which stars Robert Pattinson who plays a young billionaire Eric Packer. Recently faced with losing his empire, he begins to uncover clues that lead him to a more dire and terrifying secret: his imminent assassination. All you R-Pat fans, be advised, this teaser is weird and more importantly NSFW.…

    Off the Shelf…'Smokin' Aces'

With The A-Team hitting theaters next Frriday, I figured I would take a look at Joe Carnahan‘s previous actioner Smokin’ Aces. In the wake of Guy Ritchie’s Snatch, it seemed like writer/director Joe Carnahan wanted to try his hand at a film involving a huge cast with interweaving plots and laced with criminal stylings. This may have proven to be too ambitious as it just didn’t come to fruition as I had hoped. Along the way Smokin’ Aces did have a fair amount of good things going for it but overall, this was a let down.
