Sweet New Trailer (and Poster)…Joseph Kosinski’s ‘Oblivion’

There’s not much more that needs to be said about this film that doesn’t already speak for itself. On paper Oblivion sounds like a win and like icing on the cake, the trailers have really been hitting all the right chords. Kosinski, Cruise, M83 and epic sci-fi, that alone should seal the deal on this big budget post-apocalyptic behemoth. But for those of you who weren’t sold thus far, here’s another amazing trailer that again hits the concept right out of the park…enjoy! So far there’s nothing about this that doesn’t just look flat out amazing. Can’t wait to see how this unfolds, especially on an IMAX screen. It’s beyond impressive from…

    Sweet Trailer…Joseph Kosinski's Sci-Fi Thriller 'Oblivion'

After a week of posts making reference to Universal not showing us anything about Oblivion they put out a trailer that does not fail to impress. Cruise stars as Jack Harper, one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on a post-apocalyptic Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete. Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything…

Sweet Trailer…Jesse Eisenberg's Ensemble Heist Flick 'Now You See Me'

Yesterday The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 opened across the nation and one of the surprises (beyond the 15 minute melee in the finale), which funny enough had nothing to do with Twilight, came in the form of a trailer. The trailer in question was for the upcoming Jesse Eisenberg vehicle Now You See Me. What looks equal parts intriguing, comical and roller coaster-type fun, Summit Entertainment will unveil the illusionist heist flick Now You See Me next year and I bet it’ll be one helluva Summer popcorn film. This didn’t sound too impressive when it was announced some months ago but this stellar trailer (and cast!) has me singing a different…

    G-S-T Review…The Dark Knight Rises

A third film seems to be the biggest pitfall in nearly every trilogy. Some see it as a challenge, and that’s likely what propelled director Christopher Nolan to return to the helm of the franchise he rebooted in 2005 with Batman Begins and hit out of the park in 2008 with The Dark Knight. Nolan has been trending steadily upward and seemed to be making strides to not only top his second Batman film, but also send him off with the knowledge that he created one of the greatest trilogies of the modern age and avoided the common trappings of the blockbuster films in the post-Avatar 3D era. Perhaps that was simply too much…

    Off the Shelf…’Wanted’

Last night I watched Wanted and I forgot how much fun that movie was.  Talk about a kick-ass movie that defies physics. This beyond cool movie was a “knock your socks off” actioner and if you blinked even once during the last 15 minutes then you probably missed a lot. Sure it was totally unbelievable but I’d equate it to Equilibrium with its imaginative and borderline genius gun fight sequences. A gun that can shoot around corners…wow, using a dead guy to ‘bullet proof vest’…cool idea (although a little bit of an Arnold rip-off). This movie was brainless fun but at the same time, simply flat-out exciting! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDvP6OpRVu4

    Off the Shelf…’Lucky Number Slevin’

Certain films out there have twist endings that really make your jaw drop. However to be a successful “twist ending” usually the film will be able to perform and amaze on repeat viewings. Lucky Number Slevin isn’t one of them. However it still has quite a lot going for it and a fairly impressive “twist ending” despite being directed by virtually unknown Paul McGuigan and scripted by multiple cancelled show script-writer Jason Smilovic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30EeGDiI7MA
