Pete Docter has long been a fixture of Pixar, and like he said in his commentary on 2009’s Up (he also reiterates it here as well), “when something is a success, it perpetuates the myth that it came fully formed out of someone’s head“. He wants everyone to know, that is so not the case. In a meta way, Inside Out is a filmic representation of how the studio tries to find the story through experiences, rather than create it. After months (years, really) of waiting, Pixar Studios is finally ready to share the crazy idea from the mind of Pete Docter. Yes, that opening statement is a bit inside, but that’s the whole point! His latest film is called Inside Out and will take us to the most extraordinary location of all — inside the mind. It deals with the individual emotions of a young girl and stars Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader, Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith as well as the one and only Lewis Black who, of course, is playing Anger. Nothing says “Happy New Year” like a slew of preview material for Pixar’s release slate leading into 2016! Coming Soon had the good fortune to receive a fold-out card from the animation studio this past Monday, which contained concept art from each of their four pending endeavors– Monsters University, which hits theaters this June, The Good Dinosaur, and their two untitled projects– one that takes place inside the human mind and one which occurs on Día de los Muertos. The 2010 Dallas International Film Festival starts TODAY!!
Calling all you Texas area movie lovers!! Have I got something for you. Dallas’ 5th annual International Film Festival starts today and will run from the 8th to the 18th. I am happy to be volunteering to help out in the festivities (and as a perk volunteers get free movie passes). Screenings will take place at Studio Movie Grill, The Angelika Film Center, Landmark’s Magnolia Theater and the Dallas Museum of Art Horchow Auditorium.
