    Ohhh, Look…First Posters for Universal’s ‘Dracula Untold’

    Regardless of whether you’ve had your fill of vampires or just can’t get enough of those iconic blood-suckers Universal Pictures is planning something special for fans of the undead this Fall. You’ve probably seen Luke Evans in Fast & Furious 6 and/or Immortals but will play the stars in this “origin story” which, we’re paraphrasing, will be the mother, er father, (granddaddy??) of all vampire movies. We’re not going to knock Universal’s last foray into the realm of classic monster movies too much as Van Helsing was fun for what it was.     [Fantastic Fest Review]…Antiviral

    With this being his first feature film (beyond his two written/directed short films), like his father before him Brandon Cronenberg is no stranger to an odd style of filmmaking. That is to say with Antiviral, despite what Brandon says in the Q&A about not wanting to make a film like his father, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Right off the bat, family name not withstanding, Antiviral will be a tough sell for most audiences. Yet, underlying all the weird and macabre elements and a brutally focused performance from Caleb Landry Jones is something brilliant. Like Videodrome, this Cronenberg takes a common societal theme and analyzes it under such scrutiny that the result is a wild exaggeration of celebrity…

    G-S-T Review…Cosmopolis

    In a day and age where comic book flicks are hitting the big screen every summer and reboot films are a dime a dozen, it’s nice to see a different type of film.  Cosmopolis certainly qualifies as different and then some.  Will this movie become a mainstream hit…no.  Will people go see the movie just because Robert Pattinson is in it…yes.  Regardless of the box office numbers this film achieves, it truly is unique, albeit strange and quirky.  Cosmopolis is based upon Don DeLillo’s novel of the same name, marking his thirteenth career novel; published in 2003.  It was adapted for the screen by David Cronenberg and directed by David Cronenberg.  If…
