Films are works of art. As such they are not all equal and, more importantly, can’t please all the people all the time. Sometimes, for an indeterminate number of reasons, they just don’t connect with the audience. In other cases, a film might just be ahead of its time or looking for that niche fan base who will, one day, take to the rooftops and proclaim it a triumph. Critics are valued and trusted voices in the entertainment world. They serve as sign posts directing us toward the good and away from the bad…but they are not always on point. In fact, there are numerous instances where these gatekeepers of…

G-S-T Review…Ralph Breaks the Internet
Over the years, Rich Moore and Phil Johnston have carved out a niche for themselves telling message stories. Wreck-It Ralph touted not messing with the programming (translation: be happy being yourself!), and “going Turbo” meant you were a danger to others. Brief recap is that game-jumping is a selfish quest which puts many lives on the line. Break the game, game unplugged, game over. Everyone loses. In the sequel, the eponymous Ralph breaks the internet. However, this is really Vanellope’s movie – our lovable 8-bit “bad guy” is the catalyst but this more mature story (which caters to fans of the first film who have also grown up in the past six years)…

Video Interview…Rich Moore and Phil Johnston on ‘RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET’
Of all the Disney movies, princess or otherwise, Wreck-It Ralph is easily my favorite. And why wouldn’t it be? It is entertaining, highly inventive, hilarious, and infinitely quotable. Further, it was cast to perfection, has a fantastic score by Henry Jackman, and then, of course, there’s a great message for everyone – something Rich Moore and Phil Johnston seem to pull off effortlessly. We couldn’t wait for a follow up, but the above-pictured duo took a little detour from Litwak’s Arcade – to the lushly detailed animal kingdom of Zootopia – before outdoing themselves with Ralph and Vanellope’s second adventure on the big screen. But it was worth the wait, and it…

G-S-T Review…Zootopia
You really have to give Disney a hand for getting back in the animation game. Thanks to hits like Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, and last year’s Big Hero 6, Disney is once again a major force in the industry. Change is inevitable, and as things go, producing features using drawn animation could only have lasted so long. CGI powehouse Pixar hit their stride long ago, but now it is the Mouse House who is seemingly ahead of the curve when it comes to pixels and the digital arts. As the studio has come in and out of greatness, one thing has been constant – they are fantastic storytellers who are able to draw in…
